Terms of use

The short version

Rootside is a place where local growers and makers list what they have and neighbours buy it. Rootside is the marketplace, not the seller. The agreement over any item is between the buyer and the seller.

Accounts

You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live, keep your sign-in details to yourself, and give accurate information. We can suspend accounts that break these terms.

Selling

Sellers pay a flat $8 per month after a 30-day free trial. There is no commission on sales — you keep the full amount buyers pay you. If the subscription lapses your stall is hidden from the public, but your stall, items and orders stay in your account and come back when you resubscribe.

Sellers are responsible for the accuracy of listings, for food safety and any licences their local rules require, for honouring stated pickup times, and for the quality of what they hand over.

Buying

Pay by card in the app or, where the seller offers it, cash at pickup. Placing an order reserves the stock. Cancel before pickup and the stock returns to the seller. Refunds and disputes about an item are settled with the seller directly.

What isn't allowed

No illegal or restricted goods, no misleading listings or photos, no harassment of other users, and no attempt to interfere with the service.

Liability

Rootside is provided as-is. We are not responsible for the condition, safety or legality of items sold, nor for what happens at a pickup or delivery.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms; continuing to use Rootside means accepting the update. Get in touch through the support page.
