What we collect
When you create an account we store your email address and sign-in details. If you open a stall we also store the stall name, description, photos, pickup address and the items you list. When you place an order we store the items, the amount, your chosen pickup time and — for delivery orders — the delivery address you enter.
How we use it
We use this information only to run the marketplace: showing stalls to nearby buyers, passing order details to the seller who needs to fulfil them, sending order notifications, and handling support requests.
Who can see what
Stall pages, items and reviews are public. Reviews are shown without the reviewer's name. Your email address is never shown publicly. A seller sees the fulfilment details of orders placed with them, and nothing else about you.
Payments
Card payments and seller subscriptions are handled by Stripe. Card numbers never touch Rootside's servers. Stripe's own privacy policy covers the payment data they hold.
Location
Distance search uses the town or address you type in, or your device location if you allow it. We do not track your location in the background.
Notifications
If you turn on notifications we store a device token so we can send order updates. You can turn them off at any time in your device settings.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from your account page. Deleting removes your profile, stall, items, orders, reviews and saved stalls from Rootside. Payment records kept by Stripe for tax and accounting purposes remain with Stripe.
